The following items are requirements of The Airline Safety and Federal Aviation Administration Extension Act of 2010 (PL 111-216).  The colored circles represent the status of each open item.  Green circles denote that the item is on track to be completed by the deadline and to our satisfaction.  Yellow circles indicate that the resolution is in jeopardy of completion by the assigned deadline or an action is proposed that is not in full compliance with the law.  Red circles denote an item that is behind schedule and/or we do not support the proposed resolution.

Status: The FAA issued a final rule on flight and duty time on December 21, 2011.  A synopsis of the final rule can be found here and the complete text of the ruling can be found here.

Final Rule Due: 08/01/12

Status: The Notice of Proposed Rule Making (NRPM) was issued by the stated deadline and the public comment period is now open.  This item appears to be on track for completion by the intended due date.

Crew Member Training Part N&O Final Rule

Final Rule Due: 10/1/11

Status: The FAA has issued a Supplemental Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, causing it to miss the statutory deadline, and the comment period closed this past September. We are hopeful that this final rule will be issued as expeditiously as possible.

Notice of Proposed Rule Making Due: 2/1/11

Final Rule Due: 8/1/12

Status: The FAA is addressing this item as part of the ATP qualification provision of Sec 217.. The flight crewmember screening and qualifications requirement will be a part of that combined NPRM and will therefore follow the same timeline as that open item. The FAA is currently drafting this combined NPRM.

Status: The FAA has addressed this requirement for much more detailed guidelines for stall/upset recognition and recovery training in its Crew Member Training Part N&O rulemaking, and we are hopeful that this final rule will be issued as expeditiously as possible.
