Families of Continental Flight 3407

The "outsourcing" of branded major airline flying to regional partners was a deliberate act that happened over the last 20 years. This was supposed to be invisible to the public at large as the regional airlines replaced major airlines with "seamless service". Insidiously what was once less than 1% of departures now represents over 50% and growing. It cannot be reversed overnight because the entire business model was built on producing the lowest cost possible by having the regional airlines bid against each other. There is no band-aid fix that will restore safety over costs in the short term.

The footage after the crash rocked me to the core. Im 27, a grad student. Its stuck in my mind today as vividly as when I watched it. I was shaking and in fear at the time. Words cant express my own anger and grief for the families over this. Wake up America. I like cheap fares just like the rest of us but at what price? Shame on FAA and congress for not doing more to protect us. I will speak out on this. I think the answer is to charge higher fares, to pay pilots better and the people who work so hard to get us to our destinations. Thank your pilot next time for getting us there safely.

I didnt personally know anyone on flight 3407. I just wanted to let you know that the word is spreading about the great work you are doing here. Keep it up! Its hard to believe how low the requirements are right now! I plan to send a letter to the representatives!

Thank you for the opportunity to walk with you to complete their journey home. It was an honor to be even a small part of beautiful event; your example and spirit created deeply meaningful memorial. (Weve sent letters to D.C., making calls, & telling everyone we know to do so.) Every neighbor and resident we know in Clarence Center stands with you today and in the future.

I worked with four wonderful people who lost their lives on this flight and personally knew multiple more for a total of eleven people. It is part of my job to set up the travel arrangements for some of our associates and two of the four I put on that flight and made a promise to them that we will get them home early enough to tuck their children into bed. This is the first promise I ever made that did not come to fruition due to inadequacies in training, experience, and all around proper judgment by those I should be able to believed in. I have already sent the letters requested please let me know if there is anything else I can do. As always the families are in my prayers and thoughts.

After seeing the PBS Documentary, "Flying Cheap" I was brought to tears and angered by what some of the "Regional" airlines do to save money and how their decisions on training, and fatigue cost the lives of your loved ones. My heartfelt prayers go out to you the families.

Your efforts to spare more families the pain you suffer are deeply appreciated, and inspire a certain awe. With your work to change the broken system that allowed this to happen, you show the world that regular folks can step forward, raise their voices and be heard above the din. The fight is noble, the cause is just, and the victims did not die in vain. May God smile down on all of you. I am deeply sorry for your losses, and I hope the days and weeks bring some comfort.

My prayers go to all the loved ones that lost a family member or friend on Continental Flight 3407. And to the FAA I say get with the program. I am amazed at the number of politicians and federal agencies that have been contacted and so far with very little official response. Both the Secretary of Transportation and the FAA realize that the number of aviation casualties are minimal and when an accident happens it has catastrophic results. Every one has heard that it is safer to fly than to drive. But please listen most or the majority or the accidents could have been prevented. I am tired of reading about a year after an aviation accident that the cause of the accident or the crash is due to "human error". Translation not enough training, inexperience, and fatigue to name a few. All these factors can be minimized! Lets compare two recent mishaps, Flight 3407 and Capt Scully with the miracle on the Hudson. Scully safely landed his disabled aircraft with 100 plus passengers and crew in the Hudson and not one single soul was lost. Now the airline lost their aircraft. Only a couple of million dollars lost. Now Fligth 3407 crashed and all on board died. The plane was destroyed and 51 persons died. Those 51 persons can not be replaced. Now all the families of all those who perished have a different perspective of flying. My message to the FAA, reduce the liabilities by requiring Airlines to increase the requirements for training and safety. Flying may still be relatively safe but I feel that it can still be safer to fly. Good blessings to all the families.

No where is a long way. Kindly provide at least a P.O. Box for Memorial donations. Thirty minutes of search provided not addresses for anyone, not even the memorial effort. Association can bring the success we all seek here.

Its been a year without your smile and energy, Mary Abraham. We know you are looking down and observing this "mess" that we are in. You know everything that is going on, I know. There will be justice for all the families, including your mother and father, who you cared and constantly worried DEEPLY about. Mary is doing as good as she can without you. We are all still in pain and in shock. We miss you and love you. Happy Belated Birthday, Mary.

Personally, I did not know anyone who died that night. And yet I am completely humbled by the walk. Today in the momemnt I found myself crying for my friend who lost her best friend. It was inspiring to see everyone walking their loved ones "home." Truly and honor and a gift today. I lift up my friend in prayer for her loss.
